April and May 2017: Dance Festivals, Musical Theatre, and Canada 150

April and May always seem to be the busiest dance months of the year. This is what’s coming up for my students and I:

My contemporary classes and soloists at Stageworks Academy dance at four festivals – April & May, 2017

They are performing at:

  • Terpsichore in Edmonton
  • For the Love of Dance in Fort Saskatchewan
  • Dance Power 2 in Edmonton
  • Dream Team in Sherwood Park

My dancers have been working so hard for these shows (since September!) and are really excited to perform. If you’re around any of these festivals, please come say hello. I’ll be there with them all!

All of the group dances will also be performing at the Stageworks’ Final Curtain Call May 2 & 3.

Lion King Kids, Battle of the Bands, & Hairspray Jr! – May 1, 2017

Stageworks Theatre Arts classes will be showing off the work they’ve done all year – I have been working as the choreographer of these shows since September, alongside director Melissa Blackwood.

Theatre Arts for Kids is performing Battle of the Bands – this quick show was written by Melissa with the help of the students in this class, including some crowd pleasing songs… who will win? You’ll have to come check it out!

Theatre Arts for Tweens just can’t wait to be king with Lion King Kids. Where else are you going to see 25+ kids singing in African?

And, the Theatre Arts for Teens class is teasing their hair higher and higher with Hairspray Jr!

All 3 shows in one night – it’s going to be a fun one.

St Theresa’s Canada 150 Celebration – May 9, 2017

I am so lucky to be teaming up with the amazing Performing Arts faculty at St. Theresa’s Middle School in Sherwood Park once again! I’ve choreographed 4 contemporary dance numbers for this show, all to Canadian music. This celebration features students in grades 5-8. The classes will also be singing and performing Canadian history with puppets!
