Transitions

I decided to make this week’s video using the transitions from the footage of my previous videos. It’s something that I’ve been planning to do for a while now, and today it felt right.

I feel like I’m in a transitional phase of my life: I’ve just had a birthday, I’m newly out of university, and I’m trying to figure out where I’m headed in life.

And, most importantly, I’m searching for how dance fits into it all.

This video is an interesting look at the things that go on “behind the scenes” but still in front of the camera. All of the non-performance movements are captured.

It has identified some of the patterns that I have when I’m not performing. How I carry myself in the off-moments looks very different to me than how I carry myself when I’m consciously creating movement in front of the camera.

Without getting too existential or angst-ridden, I’ll just say that this video carries a different weight than the rest. It’s vulnerable for me. And the more I dance, the more I realize that vulnerability is so very important to explore.
